RAD!!!

Check out these baaaaaaaaaaaaad mofo clogs! Haha, I joke. Swedish Hasbeens came today and I love them! They are like child shoes. Also, I found the most amaze cardigans in Uni Qlo yesterday, they were quite cheap too. I bought a grey one, and a white one that I dyed black. They're made out of beechwood apparently? Took the dye really well though.

Please excuse my embarrassing face and posing antics!

In other news, went to see The XX...more than a week ago, in Leeds, and they were SICK. They are such a hype bad, and their songs are on everything on tv (adverts for low-budget dramas, why?) which I find hilarious, but in reality they seem to be real nice kids and they make good tunes. The bass was INSANE, the air was wobbling and I could feel it in my heart. It was a pretty small venue, and so packed - I think we all felt like the ceiling was going to crumble!

Yeah. A real good gig. I hope for their sake the hype doesn't die. The second album thing could be interesting?

IDOLISE

Agata Belcen, assistant to Cathy Edwards. Photographed for a feature on stylist's assistants in AnOther magazine, A/W 2009.
I can't put my finger on it exactly, but there is definitely something very beautiful about this, and her, image. I want to look like this. Coral lipstick for summer, I think so.

MCQUEEN

Obviously a similar post will be on basically every 'fashion' blog right now, and even though we didn't really know him, I still feel moved by Alexander McQueen's untimely death. Before this, I didn't truly realise how much he inspired me, and how much his work meant. A real, proper visionary. Cannot believe that he's gone, cannot imagine what those who were close to him must be feeling right now.

So so wrong, yet so right

We love you nessa! and we hate to admit it but we kinda like you're scary/slightly worrying/leather clad style. Bring on the studs and THAT wedding dress.....

And just when you thought it couldn't get any weirder...

BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUICE

I heart Lydia Deetz. SO MUCH.

Beetlejuice was on tv about three times (coincidence?) over Christmas, and I watched it every time.

Also, some of my favourites (although they're all hot stuff) from THAT Tim Walker/Tim Burton shoot.

AMAZE.

LAURA SPLAN

Laura Splan is one of my all time favourite artists - the lady is a genius. She's so inventive - negligees made out of peel off face masks, doilies based on viruses, knitted hospital gowns. It's not really surprising when you look at her work that she started off studying biological sciences. One of the pieces I like best is "Simple Manoeuvres" (2005). It's a series of photographs based on a surgical technique of the same time, where paper is used as an analogue for the skin. They look like religious icons, and that brings up all kinds of weird connotations.
